HRL releases 2022 Annual Report

2022 was a significant year for Heritage Rugby League NSW (HRL). In order to support communities to play football, represent their heritage and celebrate culture, HRL was born.

56 games of 13-a-side RL were played, by 1,350 males and females, playing junior and senior teams, involving 20 heritage clubs and several other groups. This included 7 test matches contested by test teams closely associated with, supported by, and with overlap of players and staff from, HRL clubs.

This culminated in the return of nine-a-side heritage football with the NSW Harmony Nines, featuring 14 heritage clubs and 4 other groups fielding 44 teams and over 650 players all playing on one day in Albion Park.

HRL President Javed Hamidi said “2022 was a landmark year with the development of a new body to support heritage Rugby League. This season was made possible by the dedicated efforts of heritage clubs, volunteers and players. It is remarkable how communities came together to celebrate culture and heritage through playing Rugby League, and create many special moments.”

The highlights, milestones and achievements are documented in 2022 Annual Report.
